Jess is a #momboss who is just crushing it. When it comes to accessible patterns perfect for any skill level, easy to follow tutorial videos, and everything you need to FINALLY get the hang of C2C projects, there’s no one better than Jess.
She made her first quilt in KINDERGARTEN. My daughter just started kindergarten this year, and I don’t even think I could get her to focus long enough to show her where the power button is to turn on the sewing machine, much less make a quilt. Making and doing is in her blood, and her passion comes through in her patterns.
Why is Make & Do Crew a favorite?
- A lot of her patterns have a throwback vibe without looking dated.
- Somehow she’s getting this done with 3 kids.
- Modern, cozy, practical patterns that anyone can follow.
Now onto some of my favorite Make & Do Crew patterns!
1. Buckhorn Blanket – It looks cozy. It’s a C2C graphgan pattern, which also includes line by line written instructions in the paid PDF. There’s a deer – my hunter husband would LOVE this. I think I need to make one for him now…
2. Idlewild Dress – You GUYS! This dress comes in sizes 2T all the way to 5X. That’s a HUGE range of sizes, and it looks fabulous in every single size. Her blog has VERY detailed instructions and video tutorials that set you up for success with this dress. If you haven’t jumped into making garments yet, move this to the top of the list!
3. Sampler Pouf – If you’re just starting out in crochet, it’s great to find sampler projects. This pouf is a useful way to practice your skills. Master the stitches, and at the end you can put it all together, stuff it, and put your feet up to relax.
4. Grandmother’s Flower Garden Crochet Blanket – I’m a sucker for a good blanket. This is perfect for using scraps, although the original pattern actually didn’t use scraps! If you have some cake yarns, like Mandala or Cupcake yarns, and you’re not sure what to do with them, this is it! This would be a great heirloom baby gift or Christmas gift.
5. Alchemy Cardigan – Sometimes I think crochet garments can look a little bulky and uncomfortable. This cardigan looks anything but. To me this is a great representation of the retro vibes with a modern twist. I’m definitely putting this on my 2020 Make Nine list!
I know you’re going to have just as much trouble choosing just one Make & Do Crew pattern to make as I’ve had. Go give Jess a follow and tell her YarnyBird sent you!
