Alexi is the epitome of #goals and sophistication. Gorgeous collections featuring both knit and crochet pieces. Catalog perfect pictures. A cool East Coast vibe that comes through in her pieces and her pictures.
Oh, and she climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro. No big deal. This mountain climb and the tarot card reading on the other side of the mountain led to Two Of Wands.
Why is Two of Wands a favorite?
- She’s cooler than most of us can ever hope to be.
- Business #goals! She is at the top of the fiber game, doing things I would love to be doing.
- Her patterns use simple stitches, modern design elements, and always keep cozy in mind.
Now onto some of my favorite Two of Wands patterns!
1. Clubhouse Raglan Hoodie – Who doesn’t love a hooded sweatshirt? Now, combine that with your favorite cozy sweater and you have the Clubhouse Raglan Hoodie. This is a top-down raglan pattern, which is such an easy construction for getting a well fitting garment. And it has a POCKET!
2. Lillian Cardigan – This is a perfect fall layering piece. Nothing fancy, just a classic shape, simple stitches, and…POCKETS! The yarn recommended is Lion Brand Touch of Alpaca, and that yarn is SO soft and warm.
3. French Market Bag – If you haven’t heard of the French Market Bag, you’re clearly living under a rock. I would guess this is one of the, if not THE, most frequently made and suggested market bag pattern. It’s such a unique construction, large enough to fit everything you need to carry, but not too bulky.
4. Mountain Ringer Tee – Everything that used to be cool is cool again, and that includes 70’s style ringer tees. Now, don’t get intimidated by the mountains on the tee – you don’t need to be a master of color work to make this. The pattern uses duplicate stitch to get that lovely mountain scene. This means you can make this both as written, and easily as a solid colored knit tee. So versatile!
5. Tea House Wrap – I would be remiss if I didn’t include these last 2 patterns. These were my first introduction to Two of Wands – everyone was talking about these patterns, and I had to know WHO is designer was, generating all this buzz. The Tea House Wrap is the crochet version of the Coffee Shop Wrap (coming up next!). It’s a “basic” triangle scarf meant to be cozy and full of perfect drape.
6. Coffee Shop Wrap – And here we are to the infamous Coffee Shop Wrap. The pattern calls for a cotton yarn, but I’m sure you could swap that out for a warm, cozy worsted weight yarn for fall/winter. The tassels are a fun finishing touch that also add some weight to the ends and help hold the scarf in place.
I know you’re going to have just as much trouble choosing just one Two of Wands pattern to make as I’ve had. Go give Alexi a follow and tell her YarnyBird sent you!
