Chantal is best known in the crafty community for her purple hair, her love of dachshunds, and her unfiltered use of the F-word. Knitatude is truly such a fitting name for her company.
Chantal wanted a scarf, and thought to herself “I can make that”, and she did. And that’s kind of how all her designs are. Her superpower is to see something she likes, and bring it to life with yarn and knitting needles.
Why is Knitatude a favorite?
- One of the reasons I love Chantal is also one of the reasons many people probably do not. She pulls no punches and tells it like it is, usually pretty bluntly. But if you’ll take down your defensive shields for about 10 minutes, you’ll see that she does it all with a huge heart.
- She’s a teacher and a cheerleader, and is always generous with her time, giving business advice and answering questions.
- Her patterns are absolutely drool worthy, while also being accessible for beginners.
Now onto some of my favorite Knitatude patterns!
1. Striped Down Cardi – This is a lightweight cotton cardigan that just looks like I want to live in it all year long. You could omit the stripes and make a solid color cardi that can be a staple piece in your wardrobe.
2. Potato Sack Dress – If you have EVER thought about knitting a dress, you must check out Chantal’s patterns. She makes the most flattering dresses I’ve seen. The Potato Sack Dress is a shift dress, meant to be a little less form-fitting, but it still makes you look amazing. The pattern calls for cotton yarn, so it would be great for summer or early fall.
3. You Made That? Hat – Would you be surprised to find out I purchased this pattern almost 2 years ago and still haven’t made it? I swear to you, I will make one this year! The unique diamond stitching on the hat was inspired by the Moonstone Mittens by Woolfield Studio, and it’s a definite showstopper of a hat.
4. Big Catch Fishermans Rib Sweater – Cozy. Squishy. Warm. Oversized. Seamless. Need I say more?
5. Colour Block Tank – I had a really hard time choosing one of Chantal’s tops. I went back and forth between a few, but ultimately I landed here because the Color Block Tank ALWAYS catches my eye.
6. Chain Link Armored Cowl – As promised, here is the original knit Chain Link Armored Cowl. Both this knit version and the crochet version by Woods and Wool look so comfy and warm. I think I need one of each in my wardrobe!
I know you’re going to have just as much trouble choosing just one Knitatude pattern to make as I’ve had. Go give Chantal a follow and tell her I sent you!
