Are you a true crime fan? I am, and it seems like a lot of makers are. I’m sure there’s some psychological correlation there between true crime addiction and crafting, right?
Ever since my brother introduced me to Serial a few years ago, I’ve been hooked on podcasts. Now, I have a 5 1/2 year old and an almost 2 year old in the car with me about 97% of the time I’m driving, and 100% of the time I’m at home, so I don’t get a lot of time to listen to podcasts (you know, no filters on the language…little ears that repeat all the things), but one I NEVER miss is My Favorite Murder. If you’ve been living under a rock, this is a gem hosted by the confidently quick-witted Karen Kilgariff and the anxiously effervescent Georgia Hardstark, with special appearances by STEVEN! Ray Morris, and endless cookies for Elvis. It’s a true crime comedy podcast that’s heavy on the humor, respect for the victims, and repugnance for the perpetrators, and self-admittedly light on the facts.
This is NOT a true crime or comedy or true crime comedy blog.
But it seemed like the perfect intro to my new blog series – My Favorite Maker. There are some amazing makers out there putting out some amazing patterns. I’m inspired by them daily, and I want to highlight some of my faves.
This is by NO means a comprehensive list, but here are some people to look forward to. Maybe you’re already following them, or maybe you’ll be finding them for the first time here!
- I was inspired to start this blog by Ashleigh of Sewrella.
- I was reminded how much you can do with crochet and how cool it is by Toni of TL Yarn Crafts and Melissa of Woods and Wool.
- I’m blown away by everything Chantal of Knitatude does. And I wish I could rock purple hair the way she does.
- Alexi of Two of Wands has more pattern ideas and cranks them out faster than anyone else.
- Jess of Make & Do Crew is #momlife balance goals for me.
…and more!
I’m excited to share some of my favorite patterns from some of my favorite designers with you! I haven’t made all of these, or truthfully most of these, patterns, because TIME! But I love them, I have them saved in my Ravelry favorites, and one day…maybe…possibly…I’ll get to making them all. In the meantime, you make them and send me your finished object photos.
