– Friday Faves –
Welcome back for the 2nd Friday Faves! I decided to publish this one pretty closely to the 1st one because the themes are basically the same. Going forward, they’ll likely be just once a month, and may contain a mixture of knit and crochet patterns.
Playing off the theme for the first post, today you get my fave recently released (well, to be honest, not all of them are *recent* releases, but I couldn’t help myself!) KNIT patterns from people I love to follow on Instagram. No, I didn’t think of a shorter name for it…but the content will be just as good as last time, I promise! The patterns I see the most are from the designers I follow on Instagram, and there have been some great releases recently from these folks.
All photos are the property of the original pattern designer. This post may contain affiliate links that support Blackbird Mountain Designs content. All opinions are my own.
1. Twisted Cowl by Knitatude

As promised in the first Friday Faves, here is the knit version of Little Red Knits Crochet Twisted Cowl. Why I love it…It’s a cowl, it’s got a twist, it’s made with bulky yarn, and Chantal made it. Seriously, though. I’ve had the pleasure of test knitting for Chantal, and have chatted with her via messenger about business things. Her designs are detailed and elegant, but the patterns are truly easy to follow. This cowl is tall enough to tuck your face into when it’s windy & cold, but it won’t be in the way when you tuck it in around your neck. As both a crocheter and a knitter, I’m a sucker for a design that has both crochet & knit versions available – this isn’t Chantal’s only design that has a crochet collaboration!
2. Waterbury Plaid Blanket Scarf by Two of Wands
Speaking of designs with a crochet and knit version available, check out this blanket scarf! Why I love it…it looks more complicated than it is. This scarf is made with 1 stitch…that’s it! If you know the knit stitch, you can make this scarf. The plaid effect is achieved by weaving, and Alexandra has a video tutorial to walk you through the weaving. And let’s not forget the cozy factor here.

3. Little Hearts Infinity by Knifty Knittings

Little hearts are synonymous with Destiny. Why I love it…it’s an infinity scarf and they’re my favorite! My favorite easy knit hat pattern to use is her Little Hearts Fair Isle Hat, and I use that pattern as a basis for solid hats, striped hats, and the original little hearts style. When I saw the Little Hearts Infinity, I had all the heart eyes.

4. Pink Velvet by Drea Renee Knits
© Andrea Mowry
First, a confession. I’ve never made an Andrea Mowry pattern. I’ve drooled over all of them, and it’s a bucket list thing for sure. Why I love it…so cozy. Colorwork is definitely a trademark of Andrea’s patterns, and I love that this one is more of an understated colorwork. The pattern calls for Baby Suri, so you get that soft halo effect. The sweater is worked top-down, so you can try it on as you go for the best fit possible. Dianne with Suburban Stitcher made a version that’s stunning and really drew me into looking at this pattern more. (Also, check out Dianne’s gorgeous yarn if you’re looking for something new!)
5. Cozy Cabin Blanket by Hanks and Needles
© Makenzie Alvarez
Why I love it…cables. Makenzie is the queen of cables. Cabled blankets, cabled socks, cabled cowls, cables shawls, cabled fingerless mitts, cabled headband, cabled cardigan, cabled floor pouf…should I go on?

6. Spellman Sweater by Dragon Hoard Designs

Okay, this one is definitely not a recent release, but I couldn’t not include it when thinking about my favorite knitting designers to follow on IG. Why I love it…simple, but elegant. If you haven’t tried Dragon Hoard Yarn, run and grab some now. I’ll wait. It’s not only drool worthy in photos, it’s even better in person. Okay, back to the sweater. I just recently started watching The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix, and I’m hooked, and this sweater is all the spooky-classic vibes. I’ve got it on my to-make list, and hopefully I’ll *actually* get to make it.
7. Seaside Scallop Dress by Knitatude

Last but not least, I’m cheating by including 2 patterns from the same designer, but it’s my blog and I can do what I want to. Why I love it…holy chic, Batman! First, kudos to Chantal for jumping out of her knitting comfort zone and learning enough crochet to add that crochet scallop detail. Next, it’s a modern take on a classic design, in knit form, and who doesn’t love that? In muted colors, it speaks elegance as a first language. Grab some cheery, bright yarn and you’ve got yourself a fun, flirty dress.
