I LOVE using coffee cozies on my cold drinks. I don’t mind using the cardboard ones they give you at the coffee shop, but I hate how it’s not big enough for my whole hand, and then some of my hand still has to hold the cold cup. So of course, I made my own and if I may say so myself, these are the best. There’s some texture to keep it interesting while you’re making it and give it some visual appeal, but it’s not too bulky that you can’t hold your cup.
If you’re looking for quick makes for upcoming markets, this is the pattern for you!
I gave these as teacher gifts this school year, and it was so fun to make them in colors to match the rest of the gift. You can print out a cute cup-shaped insert on cardstock to put inside the cozy, tuck in a gift card to the teacher’s favorite coffee shop, and put it in a cute bag.
The PDF pattern includes instructions for 2 sizes – Grande and Venti – and instructions for each size without a bottom and with a bottom. I prefer open cozies like the ones in the picture, but I know a lot of people like having a closed bottom on their iced cozies, so you have instructions for both. It’s like having 4 patterns in one!
I use acrylic yarn for my cozies, and I’ve never had any issues with not using cotton. I see this debate in Facebook groups all the time, and whichever yarn you want to use is just fine. Acrylic dries just fine and you can throw it in the washer if you drip some coffee on your favorite cozy. It’s a great way to use up scraps you have lying around.
Enough of my blabbing…let’s get on to the pattern! Below you’ll find the instructions for the Venti sized cozy, with no bottom. That’s my most made/most used cozy, so I’m giving it to you free! You can purchase the pattern for the instructions for Grande, Venti, bottom, and no bottom wherever you love to buy your patterns.
